Kitarana:
Whether that is her real name, or one given to her by her assassin clan, Kitarana has proven to be a valuable member of the Star Necrosis’ crew. Her main title is that of security, but is also in charge of the maintenance of all weapons, both ship and handheld. She is from the planet of Sangre, a planet whose culture resembled that of Earth’s ancient Japan. Trained since birth, she is proficient in all weaponry, both ancient handheld and more extravagant blasters and explosives. When on a mission with her clan ten years ago, (she was 15 at the time), her planet was attacked by the Gorgerian Empire. A proud planet, they refused help from the Coalition and Human Alliance Fleet, and soon found itself overwhelmed. They’re technology was assimilated by the Gorgerians and any Sangrian on the planet was devoured. Those of Kitarana’s clan dispersed throughout the galaxy, and much like them, she carved out a living as a merc and bounty hunter. She even worked once with the merc Toobs, though she found him utterly revolting and dishonorable. During a job she was betrayed by a group of mercs, intent on killing her so they wouldn’t have to pay her. They nearly succeeded, and though she killed almost every member, but was seriously wounded and did not have the strength to save herself from the last two mercs. As they closed in for the kill, Jace Stratton happened along. Not only did he take the two down, saving her from both dishonor and death, he showed her kindness that she had never known, taking her aboard his ship, giving her medical attention and food, and never asking for anything in return. Once safe passage was giving to a star port, she offered to stay on his ship and act as security. In reality, something she has never admitted to crew or to even Stratton himself, she owes him a life debt. Her security job is simply a front to protect Stratton, she will protect his life with her own, and the deaths of those that threaten him.
Tori:
Tori is a sex robot, designed specifically to perform any sexual desire her owner wills. Problem is, she doesn’t have an owner. She was actually part of an illegal shipment that Stratton and crew were supposed to deliver; only it turned out to be a sting that Stratton found out about and simply did not deliver. Most of the illegal sex trade robots and devices were sold to the highest bidder for considerable profit, but Tori’s model was outdated, thus never sold. She was then activated by a curious Dr. Charybdis, who was promptly disgusted by her. Jace, having no fetish for inanimate objects, but noticing Tori had a personality (designed so that she would seem more human to her lovers) was unable to simply scape her, it felt too much like murder. So Tori became Dr. Charybdis’ assistant and nurse. She also does cleaning of crew member’s quarters when requested, and will dress in a French maids outfit. She is more than willing, actually just following her programing, to offer other ‘services’ to any crew member, male and female alike, if they so wish. She seems to display more of a personality than most sex robots. Dr. Charybdis has offered two explanations. One is she is malfunctioning, that the malfunction seems to be stronger personality with likes, dislikes, and various other emotions due to humans anthropomorphizing that malfunction. The other is since her programing seems to include a program to adjust to certain outside stimuli, that the crew’s more rebellious and independent nature has thus affected her programing. Either way, she has evolved past the simple sex droid she was created to be.
Rocky:
This is an old sparring robot that somehow ended up in the storage crate and was eventually found by Doir after an inventory. There was no name for it, no order for it, no paperwork to either track its origin or who may have ordered it. It worked perfectly though, and had not been affected by the time. It doesn’t speak, but it does spar with many of the crew, helping them develop their self-defense and hand to hand combat skills. It is also used to move heavy crates and other equipment due to the strength of its hydraulics. Given it seems to be pleased to be of use, it doesn’t have the same, almost whiny quality most droids have (and really, who could blame a droid for whining when they’re basically slave labor created by the Company). Kitarana will use it for security, but has become frustrated by the fact that the robot, dubbed Rocky by Doir after one of his favorite movies, cannot inflect damage upon a living creature due to the laws of robotics. Rocky has been a source of frustration for Rikkard van Zandt as well, who has worked several time to rid the robot of observing the not inflecting damage upon a living creature programing, without success. Doir has often repeated maybe the robot doesn’t want to hurt people, but Zandt pretty much thinks Doir a moron, so he doesn’t give much credence to that.
